Our Trip to RSM, August 2014

Posted by Eugene & Linda Gehm on September 11, 2014 at 6:35 PM

On August 12, we drove to Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico from Portland, OR because Eugene was to officiate a wedding ceremony on Ausut 16.  So, we arrived at the Rancho Sordo Mudo school in Valle de Guadalupe (about 30 minutes east from Ensenada) on August 14.  We stayed one night over on the campus.  Though the Deaf children had not arrived till after the Labor's Day, so we journeyed around the campus and found a few changes since we were there in 2012.  They enlarged the basketball court for the soccer.  One of the houses was remodeled, and one new house was added for the infirmary and dentist office.  Very nice.

We then met and chatted with a Deaf Mexican named Oscar who was the maintence worker.  Then, we met the co-director's sons named Lucas, Jose and Sammy.  Then, we went up to visit the co-director, Luke Everett and his lovely wife, Josefina.  We enjoyed visiting with them.

After visiting the Everetts, we joined with the school principal, Johnny and his wife Amber to dinner at the new restaurant called "The Pastor".  We had very good tacos and tortes, and we enjoyed talking with them.  After we went back to the campus, we met the directors, Howard and Janet as well as a wonderful lady, Alisha Rodeau.  We had a wonderful fime fellowship with them.

See our pictures in "Photo Gallery".

God bless you!
